The 2006 Singapore Marine Parade RCMC Invitational Challenge
was held at Turf City track in Singapore for two days on 22 and 23 of
April.
The event was organized by RCMC Singapore as the first international
race series in Singapore to be held for all RC categories throughout
a year.
The "1/8th Gas-powered Buggy Open Race & All Truck Fun Race" was
held to kick off the 2006 series.
The event was for the 1/8 GP Off-road
and Truggy Classes.
While the 1/8 GP Off-road is a popular category especially
in Asia and Oceania, many Truggy events have been held also in Europe and
the US since a few yeas ago.
The 2006 Singapore Marine Parade RCMC Invitational
Challenge attracted a number of top drivers from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia,
and the Philippines.

Craig Laughton (Team HB Australia) shared the
pit area with the drivers of the local Team HB Singapore.
Craig,
only 22 years old, is one of the top drivers leading the off-road
racing world in Australia.
In the All Australian Championships (EP
Off-road 4WD Buggy Class), Craig has won five times and dominated
the 2006 series to win for the third year in a row.
Having started
racing in the 1/8 GP Off-road Class this year, Craig is famous
for his precise and strong driving skills.
However, when not driving,
Craig is such a friendly person and he has many fans in many countries.
|
Top racers with top machines showed high-level race performance
at the track. However, in the pit area, they enjoyed meeting with racers
from different countries in a friendly atmosphere.
Craig made A Main in
both classes. Having made some mistakes in A Main, Craig finished 9th
in the 1/8 Buggy Class and 2nd in the 1/8 Truggy Class.
Glenn Phuah won
in the 1/8 Buggy Class and Andri Hartanto won in the 1/8 Truggy Class.
